All of Katamundi’s impact projects are organized into 9 broad charity categories. Check out each category type and pick out your next project to work on!
ANIMALS
In the Animals project category, you will find causes that focus on protecting animals. Whether it’s keeping them from being endangered or helping local animal shelters and rescue groups, you will make a HUGE impact in the lives of our furry (and sometimes scaly!) friends. Here are our subcategories:
For example, Helping Local Animals is a project that focuses on supporting local animal shelters with much-needed supplies and adoption training that helps dogs find their forever homes as soon as possible.
ART, CULTURE, AND HUMANITIES
Art is such a huge part of how humans communicate with each other. It’s how we form our culture, and at Katamundi, we celebrate all cultures. Within the Art, Culture, and Humanities project category, you will discover the following:
One of our projects, Using Social Media, aims to help kids become more aware of the pros and cons of social media, so they know how to use it correctly in the technological era.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
The Community Development project category is all about getting kids active in their communities, like with community improvement, voter registration, and human services such as homeless shelters. Coming together to create social change in your own local area is a great way to make a difference in the world. These are the subjects you can get involved in:
For example, you can join our Prep for Success project and work with organizations that support local jobs and skills training to help people maintain good stable jobs and economically support themselves and their families every day.
EDUCATION
Learning is such an essential part of a person’s ability to grow and understand the world around him. In the Education project category, you can explore causes in these areas:
Education can support causes like literacy, schools, libraries, and specialized educational opportunities. For instance, one of our projects is called Creating Social Change at School, which focuses on how kids can join or create clubs that will get their peers involved in community service. We also have Developing Objective Code, which introduces kids to the world of coding.
ENVIRONMENT
We only get one Earth, so let’s work together to protect it. In the Environment project category, you can join projects that support the environment in so many ways:
Our Environment projects support efforts on conservation, climate change, and pollution. For example, in our Stop Making Plastic Soup project, you will learn about plastic soup and its negative impact on the environment and work on goals to help reduce ocean pollution by using less plastic every day.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
There’s nothing more important than your health, so how do you stay healthy? When you join a Health and Wellness project, you will be able to answer this question and stay healthy by exploring causes under these focus areas:
Health and Wellness projects work on various disease research, physical health, and mental health causes. For example, our Be Heart Healthy project aims to educate the public on how to fight cardiovascular disease and stroke through healthy living and cardiac care.
HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS
Everyone has rights, and each life matters. In the Human and Civil Rights project category, you can learn how to stand up for what’s right and discover how you can create positive social change by focusing on Advocacy and Education work.
One of our project series is called We Are One - Black Lives Matter, which teaches all about racism and how we can work together to end it.
INTERNATIONAL CAUSES
Although Katamundi is based in America, we aim to spread social good around the world. We encourage you to get involved in learning about foreign issues so you can gain a better understanding of what other people live through and help find solutions to support them. Here are the focus areas that our International Causes project category covers:
International Causes highlights international development and relief services. An example of this would be our project series called Water in Crisis. This series will teach kids about the lack of freshwater in Africa and what you can do to get involved.
RESEARCH AND PUBLIC POLICY
In order to understand and help the world, we must be able to learn all we can about it and be able to discern which voices to learn from. In the Research and Public Policy category, you will learn how to conduct the research needed to start developing better ways of living. These are the topics we will discuss:
For example, our project series called Finding Reliable Sources will educate kids on the most important step of research: locating credible sources. In Making the Most of My Vote, kids will learn how to research the platforms of potential candidates in order to learn how they affect causes important to them.
